10 Most Asked Questions About Starting To Selling On eBay - Part 4
In part 1 you discovered what you will need to get started selling on eBay.
In part 2 you found how to identify your area of interest.
In part 3 you found how to find a profitable niche.
Today I am going to answer the forth most asked question. The answer to this question is will tell you exactly what will make you money on eBay.
What Should I Sell On eBay?
Now that you have have done your research and found the market niche you want to get into, it’s time to find out what exact product(s) will make you money. You will have to do some more research but this time there are some tools that will be able to help you find your answer.
I’m sure you and every powerseller on eBay started by asking themselves this same question. This is usually followed by concerns about where to locate items to sell. Don’t be too concerned, right now, about where to find your items. There are hundreds of suppliers that are willing to help you out. Just remember you want sell products people want to buy.
Don’t sell products people don’t want to buy!
Do some research on what people have have bought in the past. You need to find out what is popular with buyers. You can do this by going to eBay and doing a completed auction search on the product you want to sell. See what is the highest and lowest price people are willing to pay for your item within the last 30 days.
Side Note : I actually use an amazing research tool to get this information. It’s one of the best, if not the best tool, to help you get all the information you need about selling a product on eBay. It’s called HammerTap and you can try it for FREE for 10 days. I’ve been using it and it has made me more money on all my eBay sales.
I’m sorry about the side note sounding like a sales pitch. But I just wanted you to know the tool I use to do my research on what items I want to add to my customers. Add since they offer a free 10 day trial, I thought you might want to try it out on your product. Better yet try it out on one of your 7 day auction listings and if it does not help you make more money, just cancel.
Back to answering the question.
Not only can you use completed eBay listings, you can use google. Type in the product you are interested in selling and see if there are a lot of results for your items. Just look at the upper right hand corner and see if there are a lot results.
![]()
This will tell you if there are a lot of sellers. If there are a lot of sellers that means there are a lot of buyers too.
You can also do a search on what keywords people type in to find your product. This will tell you exactly what people are searching for. Thus what people are wanting to buy. Remember you want to sell items that people want to buy.
Let’s us an example of selling digital camera’s. You narrowed down your market niche, Digital Camera’s. What you need to know is exactly what type and brand of digital camera you want to sell. Do you want to sell a point-and-shoot or SLR? Do you want to sell Sony, Canon, HP, etc..?
You figure you want to sell a Canon SLR camera. Which camera are people buying? You don’t want to start selling a camera that no one wants. So you go to eBay completes auctions and do your search on Canon SLR Camera. Your results get you this “Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II Digital Camera Body 1-Ds 51137″
You now take that information and go to google and do a search on this model. You find there are a lot people selling this camera. You then do a search on google find out if people are searching for this make and model.
If your research tells you there is a buying market for this camera, you now know this is a product you can sell. If your research tells you there is not a market for this camera, you now know not to sell this camera. Continue doing this with all the products you want to offer to your buyers. Remember you want to sell items that people want to buy.
