Today I am going to answer the third most asked question. The answer to this question is what will let you know just how make money you can make on eBay.

How Do I Find A Profitable Niche On eBay?
Niche - a distinct segment of a market.

You are now about to get into the nitty-gritty of creating a successful eBay business. Not only do you need to find your area of interest you also need to find out if it’s a profitable area. You will have to do some research to find out if there is a market for what you want to sell.

This is probably the most important part in creating a successful eBay business. Many people skip this and go straight to selling. Not really knowing whether they will be able to make money or even if anyone really wants their product. Usually these people are not successful due to no one wanting their items. Then they blame eBay or something else for their failure.

This is not going to be you!

Whether you are a train collector, a scrap booker, or you simply love your pet, there is a potential market waiting for you. All you need to do is the research to determine if products in that market can sell. You can just go to eBay’s completed listing to see if there are sales in your chosen market. While you are at it, narrow down your search even further to specific product groups that tend to sell the best.

Picture this process like a funnel. You know the largest part of the funnel is the top. In fact, if you were to attempt to use a funnel that was that large at its smallest point, it would be useless. The purpose of the funnel is to taper down to a smaller size so you can use it. Working down to a market niche is much the same.

For example, the pet market is huge! It’s like the top of the funnel; to big to be useful! Within the pet market there are products designed just for specific pets and pet interests. The challenge here is to narrow down to those more specialized areas. Perhaps you are a dog lover. You can begin to examine the marketplace for just for dog items. By doing this you will find that this niche is much smaller than the entire pet marketplace.

However, even the dog market place is huge! There are products for feeding, training, grooming, housing, showing, toys, and the list goes on and on. There are even products focused on specific dog breeds.

The challenge is to narrow down to a smaller, more targeted part of the market. Your research will show you what are the hot markets. Match that with your interests and you now have a niche that you can begin selling in.
