Just the other day I was talking to some of my close friends about how the cost of living has been going up. It seems that everyday something is going up in price. If it’s not gas or food, it’s the cost of services we need done for us. We all realized that somehow we need to make some extra income. I’m sure you are in the same boat as us.

I have been fortunate that I am able to add some extra money in my pockets from my eBay businesses. I started to tell my friends about what I have been doing on eBay to make that extra.
After I explained it to them, they had a bunch of questions about starting their own eBay business.
Some of there questions were “How do I get started on eBay?”, “How Do I Find My Market Niche?”, “What Should I Sell?” and many other interesting questions.

Hearing all their questions got me thinking that you may have the same questions. So what I’m going to do with this series is to answer the 10 most asked questions about selling on eBay. I’m sure this will help you get a secure foundation to starting your eBay business from scratch.

How Do I Get Started On eBay?
As with every thing you do, you have to start somewhere. I just want you to know everyone selling on eBay, newbies and Titanium PowerSellers, have asked this same question when they first started. Don’t be scared or intimidated about selling on eBay. It’s not rocket science. If you can take a picture and write some text, then you can create an eBay auction listing.

Plus eBay gives you some great free tools and step-by-step help. I must say I am amazed at all the free tools eBay just gives to all their sellers. We will get into more details later about certain tools you should use. Just keep in mind that starting is not going to be hard. Before you know it, you will be on your way listing items and having some money in your pockets.

The first thing you need to do is create a PayPal account. This will allow you to accept electronic payments for your items. You do not need to pay a thing to create this account. What you will need before creating your account is to have your bank account routing number and account number. You can get this information from one of your bank checks.

You will also be asked to select which type of PayPal account you would like to open. You can read all the details about each one. But I would recommend you create a business account. This type of account will allow you to have more option.

The second thing you need to do is create an eBay selling account. As with your PayPal account, you do not need to pay for anything to create your account. You will need to fill in all the fields on the form.

When you need to create a “User ID” try to select something that has some meaning. Maybe the name of your company or something that will deal with what you are thinking about selling. Better yet create one by combining your top keywords.

If you all ready have an eBay account, I suggest you create another account just for selling. See why you should use an eBay selling account. Creating this new account will not have any affect to your current account. Plus this will allow you to do some spying on your competition without them even knowing.
